The Thomason College of Civil Engineering was renamed as Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in the year 2001. However, even prior to the renaming, the institute has been forever a great center for engineering studies, attracting students in this discipline from all over the country. The IIT Roorkee offers courses on a number of disciplines and programmes. From Under Graduate to integrated MSc degrees and from integrated dual degrees to post graduate and doctoral degrees, the students have enough options to choose from. Students in the IIT Roorkee are housed in the 14 residential halls. Out of these, 4 hostels have been specifically reserved for married and foreign students as well as those pursuing course at the doctorate level.
